About Ellen

Ellen Stanford has been creating beautiful window treatments since 1997, first in Buffalo, NY and now in Palm Coast, FL.

Ellen's background is in Fashion Design, where she worked in New York City at various clothing manufacturers in the 1980's. After a hiatus for child rearing, she launched her own home décor business in 1997 after helping her mother for years in her own successful retail drapery workroom. Ellen grew up learning how to make draperies and valances with her mother. Her first sewing experience was on an industrial sewing machine, at age 6, making her own sundresses.

After attending the Fashion Institute of Technology, Ellen worked in NY for several years in the fashion industry. When her child was school age, she wanted to apply her love of fabrics and artistic design in her own business, but the fashion industry wasn't in Buffalo, so she opened up Ellen Sew N Sew, a retail drapery workroom like her mother's! After 12 years in Buffalo, in 2009, she moved her business to Palm Coast,Florida to enjoy a warmer and sunnier lifestyle.

Ellen is an innovator in her industry, coming up with unique designs (even winning a design contest at a trade show) and teaching her techniques to other workrooms. Every home is a new challenge and she loves coming up with the perfect idea for her clients! Constantly updating her library of samples, Ellen is adept at creating the most current designs.

Ellen Sew N Sew is a proud member of the Flagler County Chamber of Commerce and participates in the Flagler Home Show in January.
